Kids to Farms: 2 by 12 is an initiative created by NSW Farmers as part of the Kids to Farm project. It has been shown that working collaboratively with local communities can improve a students wellbeing, engagement with learning and attitudes towards school and their environment.
We believe that students should not only interact with agriculture as a one-off excursion, but this experience should be reinforced with other excursions, visits, or presentations. NSW Farmers has created these opportunities with our ‘Young Farmer Ambassadors’ which aims to connect schools with a member of their local farming community. Funding is available for school excursions, and incursions are delivered at no cost to your school.
If each primary school student in NSW has two direct interactions with agriculture by the time they are 12, there will be a far better understanding in students about the importance of the industry and the opportunities within it.
