Kids to Farms excursions are well underway in Term 2, with St Ambrose being one of the schools receiving funding to visit a local farm.
45 Year 4 students visited Gracemere Farmstead on Friday 13th May, and after having the excursion postponed twice due to flooding and rain in the region the students were thrilled to finally see the farm.
Students learnt all about pasture-raised production of meat and egg chickens, as well as beef cattle. They were invited to hold baby chicks and met some very friendly goats as well!
Having learnt about food production in Term 1 as part of the ‘Living Things’ unit, this Kids to Farms visit complemented their classroom learning perfectly.
Kids to Farms would like to thank Gracemere Farmstead for hosting such a wonderful day. To find out more about how you can visit Gracemere Farmstead or one of our other host farms, click here. Funding of up to $1500 is available to all NSW primary schools for the remainder of 2022, we encourage teachers to apply now to avoid missing out!
